Item Bank: the highest level of organization for items stored in the Meazure platform. All items exist in an item bank.

When doing item imports, you may only import into a single item bank at a time.

Separate item banks are most commonly used to divide content based on separate exams offered, or separate business lines within an account.

Administrator permissions can be limited to certain item banks which enhances security.

Folders: Units of organization within an item bank. Folders are not required in an item bank. All item banks have at minimum a "No Folder" folder.

Questions (aka items): The building blocks of assessments and the units of measurement of an assessment. Items are stored in item banks, and are organized by folders. Many organizations choose to organize their item bank with folders corresponding to competency areas or curricular areas.
Canonical ID: The unique identification number generated by the Meazure platform for an item. The canonical ID will follow the item throughout its entire lifecycle; it does not change as the item is edited or relocated.
