Choosing the Answer Key
Multiple Select items have more than one “correct” option. There is a counter to the right of each distractor that defaults to 1. This indicates that the weight of choosing that response is 1 point. Each correct response must have a weight attached to it: this weight indicates how many points are associated with selecting this option (positive - zero - negative). The max points field indicates the weight of the entire question (this can be thought of as the question total). Ideally, this should be the sum of the weights associated with each correct response (eg. 4 x 0.25 = 1.00 max points). However, this is unique to the question and to the client: the software is able to award more than the question total to a candidate. Similarly, Meazure is also able to take away points if a candidate selects the wrong options.
By default, the total points awarded to the candidate is equal to the points assigned to the distractors they select. Meazure does not limit this number, nor the number of selections. Multiple Select items are very commonly assigned Custom Grading Logic.
Notes:
- You are able to rearrange or delete a distractor by hovering over the required distractor and clicking on the arrows or trash can.
- A maximum of 26 distractors can be used on a Multiple Select question.
- Please read these articles on Custom Grading logic for more information on manipulating the answer key.
